Sometimes, all it takes is a sitcom to change your life...I'm being serious, trust me! More than once in my life, I've found myself out of sorts in my own world. I feel out of place, leading to frustration, annoyance, and sometimes even hopelessness about what could change. But every time I start feeling this way, I think about that sitcom theme song, and I ask myself, "is who I am, who I want to be?" If this question feels like a gut punch, it's time for us to chat---you literally have nothing to lose but more of the same that is not serving you. After years of dedication and hard work to achieve the life we "dreamed" of, what happens when we wake up not loving it? Take a deep breath... Now say this with me -- "My self-sacrifice is no longer serving me." Is it just me, or does admitting that feel like a breath of fresh air? Ah, momentary relaxation achieved, but if you're thinking, "NOW WHAT?" you're not alone! The good news is that you don't have to burn your dream life to the ground. Is finding your healthy-selfish worth it? If so, what does that actually look like? It sounds great in theory but what are the actions that create that LIFESTYLE! Yes, being healthy-selfish is a lifestyle---AND a choice! It simply begins with supporting yourself in your physical, mental, and emotional needs----CONSISTENTLY. When you give more to yourself, you are then ABLE to give more to your roles without taking away from them. So ask yourself---where can I show myself some healthy selfish love?? Designing a life that fulfills us takes conscious effort and intention. It's easy to get caught up in our day-to-day responsibilities, but what if all it took to break the cycle was a little reflection and less deflection? I mean, stop pushing away the truth when it comes knocking. I'm certainly not suggesting you quit your career or give up your marriage--although, I have seen it happen.
